A Juneteenth Message from New Hope Baptist Church

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we pause to remember a significant moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward liberty, justice, equality, and human dignity for all people.

As followers of Christ, we recognize that freedom is not only a historical achievement but also a spiritual calling. Juneteenth invites us to reflect on God's desire for justice, reconciliation, and unity among His people. It challenges us to acknowledge the struggles of the past while working together to build communities where every person is valued, respected, and included.

In a world that often highlights our differences, we are called to support one another through love, understanding, and compassion. Inclusion begins when we listen to one another's stories, celebrate diverse experiences, and stand together against injustice. As a church family and community, let us commit ourselves to creating spaces where all people feel welcomed, heard, and loved.

God's Word reminds us:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Galatians 3:28

May this Juneteenth be a time of reflection, education, celebration, and renewed commitment to living out Christ's love in our homes, our church, and our community.

Happy Juneteenth!
